What a fractional CFO costs in the UAE

A fractional CFO in the UAE costs AED 42,167 a month at the mid-band AED 5,500 day rate and two days a week, as of 2026. What that comes to at other commitments, and how it compares with the full-time version of the same seat once the employer carries everything that comes with it, is below.

Monthly figures are the annual cost spread evenly, based on 46 billable weeks a year rather than 52, because operators take holidays too. The middle row is the arithmetic midpoint of the published band and is labelled as such rather than as a typical rate, which is a number nobody actually charges.

Against the full-time version of the same seat

A full-time CFO in the UAE sits around AED 650,000, a year including housing and other allowances, set below the midpoint of the band above because the top of it sits in financial services and the large groups. That is not what they cost. Once gratuity, cover and the visa are counted the carried cost adds about 6 per cent on top, before the search fee that only lands in the first year.

Package assumed, allowances includedAED 650,000
End-of-service gratuity 21 days on basic pay, assumed at 60% of packageAED 22,438
Medical cover assumed, employee onlyAED 12,000
Visa and permit assumedAED 5,000
Search fee 20%, one-offAED 130,000
First year, all inAED 819,438

Where it stops being cheaper

At AED 5,500 a day, a fractional CFO and a full-time one cost the same at about 3.2 days a week. Below that, fractional wins on cost and on speed. Above it, you are paying full-time money for part-time attention, and you should hire somebody. When that is the answer, we find full-time executives too, with the fee on the page.

That is the honest edge of this. A cost page that only ever argues for the thing it sells is an advert.

What the day rate does not include

Expenses for on-site days, agreed before anybody starts. And none of the employer side: no end-of-service gratuity accruing, no medical cover, no visa or permit to sponsor, no paid leave, and no notice period to buy out. Structure matters more here than in either other market, because how an operator is engaged interacts with free-zone rules, licensing and sponsorship. How these engagements are structured covers it in full. This is general information, not tax or legal advice.

Common questions

How much does a fractional CFO cost per month in the UAE?

A fractional CFO in the UAE charges AED 3,500 to AED 7,500 a day. At the mid-band AED 5,500, two days a week works out at about AED 42,167 a month. One day a week is roughly AED 21,083, and half a day a week about AED 10,542. You pay the operator directly, so there is no commission on top and none of the employer costs that come with the seat.

Is a fractional CFO cheaper than hiring one full-time in the UAE?

Up to about 3.2 days a week, yes. A full-time CFO at AED 650,000 costs roughly AED 819,438 in the first year once gratuity, cover and the visa and a search fee are counted. Past that break-even the full-time hire is better value and gets you the whole week rather than part of it.

What does the full-time figure include that the salary does not?

End-of-service gratuity, mandatory medical cover and the visa, plus a one-off search fee in the first year. There is no employer social security for an expatriate employee and no personal income tax, which is why the carried cost here is a fraction of the American one. The gratuity is the line that catches people out: it accrues on basic pay rather than on the package, and a senior package here is routinely half allowances.

What moves a fractional CFO to the top of the band in the UAE?

Higher end for fundraise or exit work, and for regulated sectors.

Where these numbers come from

The day-rate band is the one published for every seat on the the United Arab Emirates day rates page, stated there as market observation rather than survey data. The monthly figures run through the same function every other monthly figure on this site uses, so a number here cannot disagree with a number there or with the calculator. The gratuity is the statutory accrual of 21 days of basic pay for each of the first five years of service. The package, the share of it that counts as basic, the medical figure and the visa figure are assumptions, marked as such in the table, and each is set where it makes the fractional side look worse rather than better.
